Floppy Drive

A removable disk that stores information magnetically. You can use a floppy disk to exchange information between computers, or to make a backup of your files. Also called a diskette. Floppy disks come in two sizes: double-density and high-density. To protect your floppy disks, keep them away from heat, drinks, and magnets. See also BACKUP, DOUBLE-DENSITY, and HIGH-DENSITY.
